as the Elective Member of the Board for the three-year term beginning October 2008.
Chapter III, Sections 1 to 4 of the Bylaws of The International Association of Student Clinicians - American Dental Association state:
Section 1. COMPOSITION. The Board of Governors shall be composed of six (6) persons who are Associates of the Association. Four (4) of these members shall be the elective officers of the Association (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer). The Immediate Past President of the Association shall be a member of the Board. The remaining one (1) member of the Board shall be elected from the Associates at large and shall be known as the first-year elective member of the Board.
Section 2. TERM OF OFFICE. The elective members of the Board shall be elected for a term of three (3) years.
Section 3. NOMINATIONS. Nominations for the elective member of the Board shall be submitted by the Nominating Committee, of which the Immediate Past President shall be the chairman. The chairman shall be assisted by two additional members of the committee, who shall be appointed by the President of the Association.
Section 4. ELECTIONS. The elective members shall be elected for terms of one (1), two (2), and three (3) years respectively. Thereafter, one (1) elective member of the Board shall be elected by the membership by mail ballot. The mail ballot shall be conducted as outlined in Chapter IV, Section 4 of these Bylaws. The candidate receiving the majority of votes cast shall be declared the elective member of the Board.
Chapter IV, Section 1 to 4 of the Bylaws state:
Section 1. NUMBER AND TITLE. The elective officers of the Association shall be a President, a Secretary (third-year elective member of the Board), and a Treasurer (second-year elective member of the Board) as provided in Article V, Section 1 of the Constitution.
Section 2. QUALIFICATIONS. Any Associate, in good standing, shall be eligible to serve as an elective officer.
Section 3. NOMINATIONS. Nominations for the offices of President and Vice President shall be presented by the Nominating Committee, of which the Immediate Past President will serve as chairman, to be assisted by two additional members of the committee appointed by the President.
Section 4. ELECTIONS. The elective officers shall be elected by the Associates by mail ballot. Only Associates in good standing shall be allowed to vote. In case there is more than one nominee for an office, the election shall be by secret ballot. The candidate receiving the majority of votes cast shall be declared the elected officer. Ballots shall be mailed to the Associates not later than sixty (60) days prior to the Annual Meeting of the Association held in conjunction with the American Dental Association meeting, as prescribed in Article VI, Section 1, of the Constitution. The election will be duly certified by the Secretary and the returns announced at the Annual Meeting of the Associates.

Space is provided on the mail ballot for write-in of alternate nominations.
A ballot is enclosed. This must be marked in accordance with the instructions contained thereon and placed in the enclosed envelope (A). The Declaration of Associate printed outside envelope (A) must be signed by you. The envelope (A), containing the ballot, must be forwarded to me in the enclosed envelope (B), so as to be received by me not later than Friday, September 12, 2008.
