2007 French Student Clinician Research Program Award Recipients
Announced


For the 11th consecutive year, DENTSPLY France, represented by European Vice President, Rudi Lehner and the French Dental Association represented by General Secretary, Dr. Patrick Hescot jointly hosted an award for the best clinical table during the 2007 French SCRP. The award honors young dentists who meet to support their thesis during the Prix DENTSPLY ADF.

The judges, chaired by Dr. Anne Claisse, of the University of Lille were composed of representatives selected by teachers, colleges, and scientific societies which are members of the ADF. The panel of judges included,
Dr. J. L. Ardouin, Dr. Perrin, Dr. Bourlier, Dr. Griffiths, Dr. Duminil, Dr. Druo, Dr. Chabre and Dr. Kahil.

From 80 applications, 11 high level candidates were selected including: Dr. Aurélia Basso, University of Toulouse; Dr. Helene Lafargue, University of Bordeaux; Dr. Daniel Kanter, University of Strasbourg; Dr. Elisabeth Bui, University of Paris VII; Dr. Julie Bemer, University of Lyon; Dr. Céline Kuad, University of Strasbourg; Dr. Pïerre Yves Collart-Dutilleul, University of Montpellier; Dr. Kadija Yahia, University of Lyon; Dr. Grégory Caron, University of Paris VII; Dr. Maxime Jaisson, University of Reims; and Dr. Marine Balazuc Armbruster, University of Paris VII.

The candidates presented their thesis to the judges on Friday, November 23, 2007 and four prizes were awarded.

1st prize was awarded to Dr. Grégory Caron from the University of Paris VII for his thesis, “Input of Activation Systems on Irrigation Solutions at the End of Canal Shaping: SEM Study.”

2nd prize was awarded to Dr. Julie Bemer from the University of Lyon for her thesis “Oral Restoration After Rebuilding a Mandible by Anastomosed Scrap of Fibula and Placing an Implant in Cancer Patients.”

3rd prize was awarded to Dr. Daniel Kanter from the University of Strasbourg for his thesis “Relations Between Periodontitis and Atherosclerosis.”

A special 4th prize was given this year to highlight the initiative for European cooperation in dental research. Dr. Pierre Yves Collart-Dutilleul from University of Montpellier was recognized for his work in this area.

The awards were presented during the last evening of the ADF, the annual French Dental Exhibition, at a dinner attended by the students, key opinion leaders, heads of universities, professors, and journalists. This year 150 people attended the event at Fouquet’s, the famous restaurant located on the Champs Elysées where French President Nicolas Sarkozy celebrated his victory a few months earlier.

DENTSPLY International has invited Dr. Grégory Caron to represent France at the annual session of the American Dental Association in San Antonio, TX in October, 2008. He will be joined by other winners from various countries participating in the Student Clinician Research Program to present their work during the meeting.
