Dr. Arthur Dugoni joins SCADA President, Dr. Rada Sumareva on stage to receive his award.

During the DENTSPLY sponsored Awards Program conducted during the 149th American Dental Association Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Arthur Dugoni became the latest recipient of the Alan J. Davis SCADA Achievement Award.

Dr. Dugoni has been involved with the ADA/DENTSPLY Student Clinician Research Program for many years. He had a successful pediatric dental practice and then pursued orthodontics. After many years in a successful orthodontic practice, he decided to become a faculty member at the University of the Pacific and eventually served as Dean of the Dental School for 28 years. Dr. Dugoni is currently Dean Emeritus of the Dental School which now bears his name. He is a Past President of the American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association and currently President of the American Dental Association Foundation. In this capacity, he is working to reach his dream of a $1 billion endowment for dental education. Dr. Dugoni is one of the leading statesmen in dentistry today. His commitment to dental students worldwide is unsurpassed.

For the past 40 years, the Alan J. Davis SCADA Achievement Award, a prestigious dental recognition named in honor of our first Corresponding Secretary, has been awarded to a member of our Association for outstanding service to the profession or to SCADA.
